The President's Debt Ceiling Speech and the Reply
So, Boehner is lying, manipulating, scum. Just wanted to get that off of my chest.
Here are some things that Boehner said that so thoroughly pissed me off:
First, he said that the House passed the cut, cap, and balance bill with bipartisan support - yeah if you count FIVE democrats voting for it and NINE republicans voting against it as bipartisan. Every other Democrat voted against it and every other Republican voted for it! It should have been developed in a bipartisan way and then a lot more representatives might have voted for it (in a REAL bipartisan way).
Next, he said that he has being trying to work with President Obama since January on"something that will boost confidence in our economy, renew a measure of faith in our government, and help small businesses get back on track." Well, I'm pretty sure if you had really tried then we wouldn't be sitting here at the last moment with the House Republicans taking America's credit rating hostage! How much confidence and faith do you think you have restored by deciding to play politics with our financial future at the last minute Mr. Boehner? You have waited until this moment so you could use this as leverage and not have to give up anything! That's what happens when you invent a crisis - you get to force others to avoid the crisis so that you get what you want.
Of the cut, cap, balance plan, he said: "It CUTS and CAPS government spending and paves the way for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, which we believe is the best way to stop Washington from spending money it doesn't have. Before we even passed the bill in the House, the President said he would veto it." I guess you forgot to talk to the SENATE because they sure as shit didn't pass it! Maybe, if the House had developed the legislation in a bipartisan way, the president would have signed it - just like he was willing to do with a grand deal or the gang of six plan! The President established the Bowles-Simpson commission to solve our debt program in 2010, before the tea partiers even got to congress!
Next he said: "The president has often said we need a 'balanced' approach -- which in Washington means: we spend more, you pay more." This is political maneuvering, not to mention flat out lying! Let me say this again: THE PRESIDENT HAS AGREED TO MAKE DRASTIC CUTS, but to make it a balanced plan he has requested REVENUE INCREASES!That's what it means when the President says a "balanced approach."
His next piece of wisdom: "You see, there is no stalemate in Congress." BULLSHIT, Boehner obviously needs to go back to 9th grade government class and learn that there are TWO houses of congress - the House and the Senate! The Senate isn't passing anything that the House is sending because it is too radical. The House is the mob rule body, and the Senate is the deliberative and compromising body. There IS a stalemate in congress.
And finally he said: "If the President signs it, the 'crisis' atmosphere he has created will simply disappear." Huh? What is this you say? Why do I feel like a vein is about to burst in my forehead? Before the Republicans got a hold on the nations credit card in 2001 we were on track to pay off our debt by this year! We would have been able to use even more government spending to stimulate the economy and still be relatively safe! Also, I do not believe that the President is the one who turned a regular process into a hostage situation. I also do not believe the President is one of the Representatives who have declared that they will not vote to raise the debt ceiling under any circumstances.
Attention all readers, please conduct a BLOG-RANT of your own! It is high time that Democrats become the party of intolerance toward these kinds of lies. The Republicans protect their buddies in big business, its time that we stand up for each other!

Debt Ceiling Fallout
Right now our elected officials are all sitting in a room trying to hash out an economic plan to save the country. The only problem is we’re dealing with Democrats who are unwilling to stand up for their beliefs (and those of their constituents) and Republicans who have lost all basis in reality.
Obama put forth a $4 trillion dollar deficit reduction plan over ten years that would not only cut the deficit but would increase revenue through raised taxes. Rep. Boehner simply walked out of the talks. He didn’t believe the plan would get support so he gave up rather than even continue the conversation. He, like many other Republicans, would rather see Americans suffer than allow people to think he might be reasonable.
I wonder if anyone has stopped for a moment and taken away the political aspect and considered how the American people would be affected by this…
If a deal is not reached and the U.S. government goes into default millions of people in this country who are dependent upon government support for survival who would be without an income. They would have no way to pay rent or buy groceries. They wouldn’t get their medicine or be able to pay the electric bill. Does any of this even matter to Boehner and the NO MORE TAXES EVER Republicans?
Politicians keep pushing compromise to the brink and they seem to keep forgetting it’s the American people who will suffer the most. They still haven’t learned the biggest lesson from this economic recession: If you want something you have to pay for it. Income cannot exceed outcome. The House majority doesn’t want to increase revenue by raising taxes, nor do they want to cut necessary expenditures. They would rather let billionaires have another yacht than allow a woman low cost medical care. They would rather let Eric Cantor (R) cash in on his dividends than protect the poor and middle class of this country…

The Never Ending Problem of Immigration
Conversations that I've had in conjunction with information from the news networks have led me to the conclusion that politicians do not want to solve our country's immigration problem. I believe this because I watch them appear to tackle the issue without ever solving it. I also believe the immigration problem can be easily solved.
A point I want to point out in regards to immigration is that it stirs up a pot of emotion in most Americans. People view undocumented people as job thieves, squatters, and non tax paying residents. Naturally, politicians want to keep Americans focused on this issue. They know their stance on immigration can give them victory or defeat in an election. It is in their best interest to keep the pot boiling.
The immigration battle, a battle that has been going on more than three decades, can easily be solved by making undocumented people full citizens. This will allow them to participate in our society without fear of deportation. This will allow them to pay taxes just like the rest of us (well some of us), and this will even the playing field. With full citizenship, undocumented people can find better jobs, access education and branch out from construction, lawn care and restaurant jobs. With full citizenship, undocumented people will more readily learn English. They will be able to compete and reinforce the ideals of capitalism.
You may ask, why go this route? It's the morally right thing to do. Why are undocumented people, specifically Latinos, less worthy of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Why do we have the mentality that they are unworthy to bear the title "American?"
Once they become full citizens, politicians will have to find something new to focus on. A good thing to focus on is the moral character of the people leading our nation.

Shut Your Face Award of the Week
The Shut Your Face Award Goes To...
"They have set fires because they want to signal others, they have set fires to keep warm, and they have set fires in order to divert law enforcement agents and agencies from them."
I know that's a hanging quotation, normally I don't do that, but in this case... I must. John McCain once again makes a strong accusation and follows suit with other republicans fishing for American's emotional strings. What's more powerful than the image of America burning? I doubt any image could invoke stronger emotions than the image of America burning.
America wake up and start thinking! Mexicans are not responsible for the wildfires in Arizona and New Mexico. They are not trying to divert law enforcement agents, they have not started fires to keep warm, and they are not signaling other undocumented people.
The absurdity of this incident is comparable with the absurdity of Pat Robertson or Robinson (I can't remember his name... the one on the 700 club) blaming Katrina on homosexuals. The absurdity of McCain's statement is the absurdity of Herr Hitler and his party blaming Jews for recession in Germany. The absurdity of McCain's statement is the absurdity of blaming the Spanish for the Influenza pandemic of 1918.
Thankfully, experts have stated that the fire began at a campsite after an uncontained campfire got out of hand. If that were not the case, it could have started from a lightning strike, or from a ciggy butt that some fool (like me) threw out a car window.
McCain's accusations do nothing but bolster the recreation of Jim Crow in this country. He's trying to separate a race of people from the "real Americans." John McCain, for this reason I give you my Shut Your Face Award! Good job! Don't keep up the good work!

Shut Your Face Award of the Week
The SYF award goes to...
Michelle Bachmann is up for party nomination. After hearing her speak earlier, I conclude that she is a good contender for nomination. Not only does she have the ability to inspire passion in others; but also, she has passion.
While stating similarities between the passions of Tea Party members and Obama's "Change" platform, she claims that the vita nova is made up of former democrats and independents. I can't see this. While even I would hop my own political traditions if my conscience came under fire, I cannot believe that so many democrats are disenchanted with the party. In lieu of my personal knowledge of Tea Party members who have never had anything to do with the Democratic Party, I call her bluff.
M. Bachmann, despite your passionate rhetoric, you live in a dream world. Although I cannot give you a Shut Your Face award at this time, I look forward to doing so in the future. After today, I know you have the ability to earn one.
